One Word: Exhausted

This little monkey is definitely preparing me for things to come. She's such a night owl!! She starts to boogie around 9 and doesn't stop until midnightish, and then she's up at 5-6am again! I still have over 100 days and I'm getting little sleep :( She usually makes a big deal if I sleep on my right side (I sleep on the right side of the bed so that side is the most comfortable for me). She definitely doesn't move around as much if I lie on my left side, but I can't get comfy :S

Ultrasound Appointment

Well this one was very different than Robbie's and I've gotta say we were left with a little bit of an anti-climatic experience.

So they call me into the examining room and Colin is following me until he gets told to sit in the waiting room until he's called for, she said it would be about a 20 min wait (Col never left my side during Robbie's). So she had me lift the shirt and pull the pants down to the hips and she proceeded to ask me if my bladder's full.... HELLO?!!?! I'm pregnant and you just had me drink 6 glasses of water an hour before this appointment!!!! I said "oh yeah - it's full", she put the wand on my bladder and was quick to ask me to empty it before we started (thank goodness!). After feeling like a weight was lifted off of my bladder I went back into the room and laid on the bed. She did all of her measurements of the cervix, placenta, etc (even did my left and right kidney) and then she moved on to the baby. She was able to get the spine and the head with no problems and then she started shoving her wand into my belly while she shook and pushed the baby! Turns out Eggy was facing my spine, she was able to show me that baby was practically wrapped around my spine. The tech kept on probing poor Eggy because she really needed it to flip over so that she could take a good look at the heart, liver, lungs ,etc. She had me lie on both of my sides in hopes gravity would help flip Eggy. No such luck!

The tech ended up going from underneath, which meant her wand jabbing down and into me. We were able to see that both of its feet were up in front of its face.... one of which was touching its nose and one of its hands was on its forehead. After barely getting the measurements she needed, the tech left the room to finally go get Colin. We were able to see baby take a big yawn (which was literally as big as half of her head) and it stuck its tongue out at us... it was very unimpressed with all the moving and poking that the tech had been doing to it. So Colin asked the burning question "do we know a sex?" The baby's legs were pretty closed shut but after a couple more jabs to the baby she was able to get an angle in between those legs, to quote the tech "there should be a gear shift right here... and ther isn't" Ummm.... what?!?! I had myself convinced it was a boy. Of course it was a really bad angle so she wasn't 100% sure but she said she's 80% sure it's a girl!

Colin asked about the 3D ultrasound and she said that I wasn't booked for it (grrr.... I had requested 3D when I called!) and all she gave us was this one picture. Brutal! I spend an hour with you jabbing this wand into my belly and shaking my child and you give me ONE picture?!?! So once we got home I called up UC Baby and made an appointment for a non-medical ultrasound. We weren't able to get a good profile picture of baby because she was facing my spine and I felt that it wasn't a very parent-friendly appointment. I realize that the main purpose is to make sure baby's doing okay but with Robbie we had an awesome experience and we were shown all of Robbie's parts. So Sept 29th we're driving Calgary to go see Eggette in 3D/4D! :)

Oh! She's measuring to be 24 weeks old... so according to the measurements she she be due Dec 19th :)

With aprox 114 days to go....

Eggbert has found my ribs!

23 weeks

Turn on the radio and sway to the music.
With her sense of movement well developed by now, your baby can feel you dance.
And now that she's more than 11 inches long and weighs just over a pound (about
as much as a large mango), you may be able to see her squirm underneath your
clothes. Blood vessels in her lungs are developing to prepare for breathing, and
the sounds that your baby's increasingly keen ears pick up are preparing her for
entry into the outside world. Loud noises that become familiar now — such as
your dog barking or the roar of the vacuum cleaner — probably won't faze her
when she hears them outside the womb.

Baby seems to be doing great, growing and moving constantly. We were in Calgary this past weekend and I had my first baby hunger... I had two helpings of salad, two large plates of spaghetti and a slice of pie to top everything off. This was the first time I've had such a large amount (for this pregnancy) and needless to say my tummy was rock hard... baby likes spaghetti! Eggy definitely doesn't like Dorito chips, I picked up a bag for the ride home and by the time I got home it felt like I was in labour. My lower belly was OH SO PAINFUL, I was in tears! I've learned my lesson!!!

This Friday will be here in no time, can't wait to see who's been kicking me!!

Dr's Appt @ 22 weeks

Everything seems to be right on target. I go back in 4 weeks for another check-up!

Heather's ...

Weight - 143 lbs (up from 138 that was recorded last time)
Blood Pressure - 112/72
Belly's Measuring - 23 cm's
Eggy's Heartbeat - 154 bpm

We were really lucky that Nan and Grandpa were able to watch Robbie so that Daddy could come to the appointment this time! He was so excited to come and as we were leaving he mentioned that hearing the heartbeat made everything a little more real.... just wait until next Friday, ultrasound day!

22 weeks

At 11 inches (the length of a spaghetti squash) and almost 1 pound, your baby is starting to look like a miniature newborn. His lips, eyelids, and eyebrows are becoming more distinct, and he's even developing tiny tooth buds beneath his gums. His eyes have formed, but his irises (the colored part of the eye) still lack pigment. If you could see inside your womb, you'd be able to spot the fine hair (lanugo) that covers his body and the deep wrinkles on his skin, which he'll sport until he adds a padding of fat to fill them in. Inside his belly, his pancreas — essential for the production of some important hormones — is developing steadily.

Another week gone, I'll be sure to take some belly pictures today. The belly has a nice round shape to it now and is starting to feel hard. Eggy's been really active lately which has been really exciting. I didn't realize how much I've missed the feeling of having a little person inside of me squirming around, it's a constant reminder that I've got another Robbie brewing... I'm SO excited to meet this little guy. Tomorrow we go to the doctors for another check up and then on the 29th we've got the big ultrasound, we're really looking forward to seeing this little guy that's been making himself known since day one (pretty much). I will post more when info becomes available to me :)

21 weeks

Your baby now weighs about three-quarters of a pound and is approximately 10 1/2 inches long — the length of a carrot. You may soon feel like she's practicing martial arts as her initial fluttering movements turn into full-fledged kicks and nudges. You may also discover a pattern to her activity as you get to know her better. In other developments, your baby's eyebrows and lids are present now, and if you're having a girl, her vagina has begun to form as well.


I've had to go out and get some facial cleanser, my hormones are all out of whack. I've never had to wash my face with this stuff before (even with Robbie) but it seems to be making a difference. I just wish the acne on my chest would go away.

20 weeks

Well here I am at the half way point... ALREADY!

Things to report:

- If I don't have dairy through out the day I get heartburt (which kept me up for half of the night once)

- My sleeping patterns have changed, I try going to bed between 9-10 but all I do is toss and turn and end up watching TV until midnightish.

- I feel Eggy moving daily, he's more active during the evenings. I've felt kicks as high up as the bottom of my navel!

- I'm really hungry during the eveninings, the nights that we have an ealy dinner I seem to have two meals... hehehehe.
