Lana's Bday

Thank you to everyone who made her birthday extra special... even those that weren't able to make it to the actual party.

Lana now has more babies, strollers and girly stuff that she can shake a stick at - and she loves it. Even RW  likes to play with a stroller, but he just likes to have racing competitions with Lana and the pups.

Little L's Second Birthday Party

We Are Gone

Just a little post to let everyone know that we're headed to Calgary this morning to catch a flight tomorrow morning (7am) for Punta Cana.... I can't believe my little sister's getting married!

I think it's fair to say that Christy is officially smitten with our Little Lana... and vice versa! She kept telling me how sweet and kind she is. She ate her snacks and lunch without any issues and even slept in the same room as the other kids!

Lana's First Day at The Dayhome

It sounds like it was a success. 


We got to the house and asked Christy if she wanted RW and I to hang around for a little bit to get her a little more comfortable with her surroundings, she said that if I'm okay to just to leave her. So we did (reluctantly). I guess she didn't cry after we left and was playing with the kids and toys really well. Christy thinks she's "a sweetheart", I guess Christy sneezed and Little Lana piped up with a "bez you"!


Sleeping was a little bit of an issue (rightfully so, new people and new surroundings) Christy ended up putting Lana down beside the couch where Christy was and ended up sleeping for 1.5 hrs. Apparently she didn't want to eat, but she did have a big breaky so I'm not totally shocked. 


In the afternoon they all went to the park, like Lana always does - she took some time to analyze the situation before joining in. When we stepped through the door she was happy as can be (she didn't even run to me for a hug) so she must have had a good day :) Christy thinks that after a couple of days there may be more tears once she realizes that this is going to be a routine... I'm just super proud of her. I was expecting a puffy-eyed and booger filled hot mess, I was pleasantly mistaken!


Good job little girl!!

We have a Day Home!

I'm excited about it! She goes Wed & Fri :)

I'm looking forward to giving RW some one-on-one time!

Nan bought this for Little Lana a while ago but she made it very clear she wasn't interested in it... today is a different story!

Day Home Hunt

I have mixed feelings about this but I know Little Lana wound benefit from being in a day home. Colin's pointed it out numerous times, her and I are attached to the hip and I cater to her every need. We're hoping that a couple days a week in a day home will expose her to new things without the security blanket of myself or RW being there.


We were talking about how easy it is to introduce RW to new environments but we both agree that Little Lana will be one of those kids that sits there on the ice whaling because it's something out of her comfort zone.


I hope we're able to find someone like RW's first caregiver, Patty, she was amazing.

This is RW's winter hat (bought it so that he could have the same hat as Grampie) and Lana loves it... because it has buckles.

This shirt is too cute for words. A little dog in a jail uniform with pink "xoxoxo" lettering.

I'm not actively trying to train her, but she's becoming more aware of when she soils her diaper so every now and then she'll go sit on the potty just to get use to the seat.

Little Lana Status

I think she's finally back to her normal self. Her appetite is back and she's wanting to play with her big brother and pups a lot more. I've missed my happy and content baby little girl.

Results

Our little Lana has an ear, throat and chest infection.

I mentioned to the Dr that both my parents are/were on meds for pnemonia and that she was around them so she sent little L for a chest X-Ray, she did phenominally well. There was a little bit of infection in her chest, but the crappy walk-in doctor seemed to think it was just a virus. So she's on some 10 day Clarithromycin meds.

Fever

39.6 to be exact. She's had a fever for a couple of days now and meds take care of it for the 4hrs but then it returns, if she wakes up tomorrow with a fever I'm going to take her in.

The Stasiuk's Go Camping!

What a great experience! We went up to Thunder Lake with a couple of our close friends, Jeremy and Carin and Taylor. The kids did great and Jedi had the time of his life! (Sophers stayed at the boarding kennel) We cut the camping short of a day due to the rain. Regardless, the kids (and us as well) had a great time!!

She's SO funny!

I got these sunglasses for her last year and she wouldn't give them the time of day, this year it's a different story. She's prancing around with her dress and pretty necklace that Auntie Char, Uncle Ron and Cousin Julie got her. It seems like the glasses were the finishing touch to her ensemble. She even said "cheese" for this picture... have I told you lately that I love this little girl?

I love taking her to swim classes!

We went for another swim class this morning and I could not be more proud of my little girl. The teacher was surprised and impressed when she tried to blow bubbles, she's not at all affraid of putting her face in the water. She also's figuring out how to kick her feet, I had her holding onto the ledge while I held up her belly and she was wiggling those little legs!

She's going to be a fish, just like her Mommy! I can't wait :)

They're Here!

Her last 2 teeth have cracked through (her eye teeth)! I've gotta tell ya, she's been a champ with this whole teething thing. I still can remember RW going through weeks of pain - it was traumatizing.

"More"

Lisa (Robbie's Dayhome provider) has a little one year old who she's been taking care of for a couple months now. She's been teaching her to sign and Robbie's obviously been watching. Tonight at the dinner table Robbie asked Lana if she wanted more broccoli as he's making the sign for it. Lone behold, she started signing! She even did it in the bathtub. I took a break from blowing bubbles so that I could scrub her down - she made it crystal clear, through signing, that she wanted more bubbles!

Good job teacher Robbie!!

Girly Lana

Here's Miss Lana this morning. My plan was to change her diaper and get her dressed... I got as far as getting rid of her dirty diaper when she got up and grabbed her pink shoes. I put them on her and she was off! After a little bit I was able to get a diaper on her but she made it well known that she wanted to wear her purple sweater that Grammie made her.

Swim Class

Lana had her first class and it was a great success! She did an assisted back float (while putting her ears in the water!) and went under water for a split second!!

So Smart!

Miss Lana still has a runny nose from a head cold that she's had since last week. I had put the tissues on the windowsill because it's close to the toy area for easy access. I asked her to bring me a tissue to wipe her nose and sure enough she trotted over there, picked up the tissue box and brought it to me! I clean up her nose and ask her to put the tissue into the garbage.... what does she do? Walks over to the garbage pail, opens the lid and drops the tissue in!!!

She's a year and three months.

Sick Mini-Me

She's got a fever :( Motrin's been keeping it at bay but she woke up in the middle of the night and she was roasting. She snuggled right into me and fell back asleep. She didn't have much of an appetite at dinner but it turns out she was just being picky because she had no problem chowing down on some black berries and cereal bar.
