We've Moved

... and I'm in love with this house! The kids have adjusted amazingly well to the new place. Robbie knew what the "new house" was and when he spotted something was missing from the old house we'd let him know that it was at the new house, so when we made the transition it seemed to go pretty smooth :)



Lana's trying to sort herself out right now, I think she's at the tail end of a growth spurt. For the past week or two she's been a high needs baby, I would nurse her to sleep but as soon as I put her down she'd wake up. I've tried to let her cry it out a couple of times but after 45 minutes of crying she'd calm down for about 5-10 minutes and then would start crying again, she obviously wasn't that tired. On moving day she had about an hour of napping time for the ENTIRE day... Robbie was getting more sleep than she was! I think she's finally past that phase, for the past two days she's been napping twice daily for a good 1-2 hours... I'll take it! She's been waking during the night to feed, but I don't mind. Now that she's napping I've actually been able to get some unpacking done.

I've altered the way we're nursing, I usually just give her one side to nurse on at a time but have started offering both sides in hopes to knock her out so that she won't wake up when I try to put her down for a nap - so far so good. The down side to this is that I'm not getting engorged any more, it's hard for me because I'm so use to feeling full so that I know I've got food for her but now that I don't have that sensation any more it's hard for me to come to terms that I'm feeding her enough (I obviously am, as she's pooping and peeing like a champ... it's just a mental thing)

After several blow outs and clothing stains we've moving little L to size 3 diapers. This growth spurt is getting so depressing, her 6 month sleepers are getting pretty tight and her 0-3 month pants are getting a little small.

My little girl loves sounds, she has a wooden rattle and Sophie that she adores. The great thing about these toys is that her grasp them and she can shove them into her mouth. Everything is going into her mouth these days; she's pretty much given herself hickeys on her thumb, index finger and a portion of the back of her hand from sucking so much. Her hands are always a little chilly because of all the saliva on them. With all these signs of teething she also has an increased amount of saliva, nothing too bad but she loves to blow bubbles with it. When we talk to her while she's blowing bubbles she'll pipe up with "bvvvvvv" and will spray us with it, it's really cute... and wet. lol

Robbie has always been really good with Lana. One time I was busy nursing Lana and wanted me to play with him and I had to decline so off he went to play by himself while the little one had a meal. Out of the blue he came running up to me and gave a me a big smooch right on the arm and then ran off to play again. You have no idea how teary eyed I got, I remembered driving home from the hospital with Lana and I felt like I was betraying Robbie by sharing my heart with another little one. I'm so proud of him, he's stepped up to the big brother plate without any issues or hiccups.

Growth Spurt

Here we go... er, I mean grow!

My little girl seems to constantly be attached to me and has been doing a good job a keeping me empty (nice to wake up and not have engorged boobs that prevent you from lying on your side) She woke up this morning an hour before schedule and as I type she is half asleep while nursing.

Don't grow up too fast little L.

Houdini and a Poopy Picture

Last night we let Lana fuss herself to sleep (about 10 mins) I went to check on her before we went to bed and the little monkey turned out to be the next Houdini! Somehow she got both of her legs and her waist out of the sleeper and was catching some zzz's with bare legs. I covered her with a couple extra blankets and called it a night.





This morning Robbie and I woke her up because we had to get her ready to go take Robbie to the dayhome, that's when I found this:

Not only did she kick those heavy blankets off of her but she blew out her diaper and soaked all the blankets, her sleeper and mattress sheets.

At least I know her plumbing's still working!

Lana's Sleeping

ohhh little Lana I hope the worst is over for you.
Sleeping has been a big issue for Lana for the last 2-3 weeks. She's a horrible napper (she's gone days where she hasn't napped at all!), she falls asleep on the boob but she usually wakes up when I put her down in the crib. I've tried to leave her alone in hopes that she'll put herself back to sleep but she just gets so worked up and it physically hurts my heart to hear her cry like that. She still sleeps through the night (usually about 10-11hrs) so I'm happy about that but it's becomes pretty demanding when I'm constantly holding or nursing the little monkey.

I know she can nap for long periods of time, she slept for 3-4 hrs when we drove down to Calgary. So her issue is that she doesn't know how to put herself back to sleep if she does wake up (along with the initial putting herself to sleep) Up until now she's been relying on nursing to get herself to sleep but after she bruised a nipple and clawed one of my boobs I'm more inclined to teach her how to put herself to sleep.

Last night I was exhausted and we ended up letting her cry it out. She wasn't tired enough to nurse herself to sleep, she was too PO'd to rock her to sleep but she was so cranky and didn't want to be awake. Colin said she only cried for about 5 minutes but listening to it felt like a lifetime :( She woke herself up about half an hour later and cried for another couple of minutes before falling back asleep for the night. I think I'm going to have to suck it up and have her do that from now on. Stick to a routine: wake up, feed, play, hygiene, comfort nursing, bed (while in a calm semi-awake state) Wish me luck!

We went for her shots yesterday. She was so happy to be there and while the nurse was talking to me about her sleeping issues Lana kept on interrupting us with her two cents, she is such a gabber!! Coo'ing and ahhh'ing it was/is adorable. Then it was immunization time, we had to assume the position and as soon as I snuggled her into my body and held that little leg she started crying :( I couldn't watch the needle going in so I watched as my baby cry as she got 3 needles. As soon as it was over she stopped crying and just sniffled as she wiped her tears onto my shoulder.

The pediatrician is soooo good with her, she was giving him some big smiles as he poked and prodded her. He kept on telling her that she's perfect and such a well mannered little girl.

I asked him if he'd take on Robbie and he said of course! He's first appointment with the pediatrician will be when he turns 3.
