Bath Time

Oh my gosh. My little girl is SO adorable!

Tonight, after scrubbing her down, I sat her up for the first time in the tub. She was so excited! She kept splashing and squealing. She loves the plug - very fascinating.

Bath time is definitely the highlight of her day.

Food

This girl DESPERATELY wants to get her hands on whatever I'm eating. She fusses when I put her down to eat, so she usually sits on my lap while I tackle meals with one hand. The little monkey reaches out with both hands and pulls my plate to her in hopes that she can get her little hands on some of mommy's food (sometimes she's successful). I need Colin to watch my plate if I happen to focus my attention on Robbie because she's a sneaky and fast little one!

6 Month Stats

Weight: 17.13 lbs (90th percentile)
Height: 26.? in (90th percentile)... not really confident with this number, there was a volunteer that was doing her measurements.
Head: ? (50th percentile)

Everything went really well. One shot on each leg, the first one she didn't make a peep and the second one she let out a little yelp and a tear rolled down her cheek.

The nurse recommended we start something that I've never heard of before for an infant... Rub/brush her teeth with a tiny bit of fluoride once a day. She said this is a new thing that they're recommending to parents. I don't know how I feel about this so I'm going to wait until we see the pediatrician next month and I'll ask him what he thinks and why a damp cloth isn't sufficient.

All 'n all it was a great appointment.

This girl loves food!

This week she's been having banana during the morning and mixed grain cereal at night. The mixed grain is by far her favorite cereal out of all the ones she's had! My babyf ood cookbook says to mash 1/4 banana but as of yesterday she's been eating 1/2! Tomorrow we go for her weigh-in and shots.

Lana's 6 months old!

Half a year..... HALF A YEAR! Can you believe it?! Geez time has gone by so fast. Lana has been a great baby she sleeps well, eats well and is genuinely happy. She's starting to eat solids and sits up on her own up to 15 minutes at a time. She has two teeth and is working on a couple more right now. I think she's going through a growth spurt, she's been sleeping a bunch along with eating a bunch. We go for her weigh in and shots on Friday.

My Lana's Growing Up

I'm SO not ready for this. Why is she in such a rush to grow up? *sigh*

• She officially goes to bed without nursing and when she's wide awake. She has cereal around 7:00-7:30 and may have a little feed before her bath and then it's time for PJ's and bed. I've started laying her in the middle of the crib with one side of her face touching the bumper pad and a stuffed animal beside the other and she seems to like it. She gets a really good view of the mobile and she just drifts off to sleep without making a peep.
• These bottom teeth are growing so fast! She gave me a big smile yesterday and I caught a glimpse of the pearly whites. (I'll try and get a picture of them soon)
• I'll be introducing different solids in the next couple of days, she still loves her cereal (with formula) but I think we're both ready for something new. I think I'm going to start with chicken this time around.
• She's getting pretty good at sitting up. When she's got a couple of fascinating toys in front of her she doesn't realize that she's sitting up without mommy's help but as soon as she realizes there's nothing/no one helping her balance she gets a little spooked and jolts backwards.
• She is just starting to notice Sophie and she usually thinks she's a hoot. I picked up this god awful chicken for Sophie to play with and Lana thought it was the funniest thing she had ever seen (probably was, the kid hasn't seen much yet :P) The chicken lets out this horrible cry (like it's being strangled) and Sophie goes bonkers, which in turn gets Lana laughing hysterically.
• My little girl is SO good in her bucket/car seat! It's like night and day when comparing them with Robbie. I purposely avoided any kind of shopping up until now because Robbie had such a small attention span at her age but she's quite happy taking it all in while sitting in her bucket and playing with her toys! It won't be long until we eliminate the "bucket" all together and get her a convertible car seat like Robbie's.

She's growing up so fast :(

Update

While those teeth were pushing through she was SO upset (understandably so) and the only thing that soothed her was nursing... so she was nursing a lot more than usual. Now that the two teeth are out it's left me in a sticky situation, she refuses to take the bottle. I tried giving the bottle while snuggling with her, rocking with her, sitting her in a chair; even offered different bottles/nipples and Colin tried to feed her - all of which she refused (I wasted a lot of milk in this process). We have tickets to go see a big comedian/actor at Rexal place on Sunday and we've found the perfect babysitter but that means nothing if I can't get little Lana to take a bottle!

This morning, after a days break of trying to get her to bottle feed, I offered it again. She drank 1oz and then didn't want any more, so we carried on with our morning. After about an hour I put her in her pink chair and offered the bottle again with some "fresh" milk, she took another 2oz. She also took a couple tbsp of cereal and then it was nap time! I bounced on my medicine ball for about 2mins until she stopped her fussing then put her down in a semi-conscious state, she rubbed her face into the bumper pad and that was it.... she was out! I can't believe the morning's gone and I have yet to nurse her!! There is hope! My goal is to have a nursing-free day, keep your fingers crossed!
