Milk drinking machine!

You have no idea how happy (and how easily) she started drink the homogonized milk!

Most of you should have received this guy in the mail already:

Lana's been dealing with a bum rash these past couple of weeks which has gotten progressively worse these past couple of days. I know exactly when she's pooped, she's so uncomfortable and her mood quickly shifts.

Updates

My husband has brought it to my attention that I haven't blogged in a while.... so here I am!

• Little Lana is becoming quite a Daddy's girl, her arms flail and legs kick every time he comes home from work. When he picks her up she goes in for an open mouth kiss!
• She's got no problem crawling and climbing up furniture but sometimes she gets a little distracted and has been known to face plant (sometimes on the tile floor - OUCH!)
• She waves hello (caught it on video)
• She dances (also caught on video)
• She LOVES to play a little game of "give and take". She'll offer you her teddy and as soon as you snuggle it she gets all excited, then she waits patiently for you to give it back to her so that she can get some snuggles too. She's been known to play this game for (what seems like) ever!
• She's taught me some sign language. Every time she wants more food she open and closes her right hand, after talking with Aunty Alison I have come to find out that the real meaning of that sign is milk.... oh well, in Lana's land it means more!
• I have started introducing formula. She hasn't spit it up or rejected it, so that's a plus. She only drinks a couple ounces at a time and seems to prefer it when it's at room temperature. In another month she'll be able to start whole milk, I pray she's a milk drinker - unlike her brother.
• She's finally starting to eat some fruit! Raspberries, grapes and blueberries. A couple of days ago Robbie asked for some "cold blueberries" aka frozen. You should have seen these two... SO MESSY! Hopefully my OxiClean can do its magic again.
• I'm slowly selling all of our baby stuff and I'm excited! I'm SO done having babies.
• We got Lana a new stroller. It has a step at the back so Robbie can hop on if he's getting tired and it's a lot more sturdy for the upcoming snow and slush (I'm in the process of selling our old one)
• Lana is finally starting to understand that bed time doesn't have to be a sad time. She's grown quite attached to a little teddy bear (that was originally given to Robbie) and a small Curious George which I think has aided in calming her down.


So there you have it! I'm working on Lana's birthday invites - I think we're aiming for Dec. 19th!

10 Months

Ahh my little Lana, you've hit a couple more milestones this past month. You said your first word: Dada, you started crawling and you've got a best bud - Curious George. Your favorite foods peanut butter and toast, broccoli and green beans, chicken and pork!

Thank you for being such a content little lady, I love you.

At 9 months and 3 weeks

She's finally started to crawl!

At 1:30 AM

She started moaning and groaning, I went in to check on her and she had figured out how to pull herself up to a standing position!

She's Getting There!

She's standing on her own for up to 30 seconds or until she realizes that I'm not holding onto her hand, then she panics and falls onto her bum.

She's alllllllllllllllmost crawling... it's getting so close! She gets herself up on all fours and rocks a little but she ends up lying on her belly.She's also figured out how to push herself backwards but she's not a big fan of getting around that way, she usually backs her booty into a corner or gets her feet stuck under the couch.

I could have sworn I got her to say "uh oh". We were playing with some toys and every time she knocked a toy off I'd say "uh oh" and then I could hear her trying to mimic my words... maybe it's time to start working on "mama"!!

She HATES baby food. All of the sudden she little miss independent and thinks that anything from a spoon is so passe. She adores the Gerber Puffs (Sweet Potato is her fav)

She officially can drink water out of her new princess sippy cup (and is very proud of it)!!!

9 Months Old

It's official, she's been in this world for the same amount of time she was in my belly... can you believe it?!

Wowzers.

Hmmm couple things to update on:

- we lowered her crib.

- she's having a hard time falling asleep lately. Every time I put her down she grabs a hold of the railing and flips herself over onto her belly (she HATES being on her belly) So I have had some very frustrating and exhausting evenings and she hasn't been napping much.

- she's now a proud owner of a walker. She's getting really good at standing with it but hasn't attempted to walk yet, all in good time.

She Claps With Joy

... and it is soooooooooooooooooooooooo cute and this tongue of hers is CONSTANTLY out!

The cuteness factor just went up a couple of notches.

Did you know that Robbie didn't get his 6th tooth until Kailey's first birthday (he would have been 1yr & 2 months)?!?!!

2 Little Monkeys in a Tub

Robbie helped me give Lana a bath tonight... they had a blast. Robbie started out fully clothed but was completely naked by the end, they kept on splashing each other. Lana kept on looking over the tub hoping that Sophie would join in, she would have if I wasn't there policing.

Oh my little Lana. You're growing up SO fast and you're changing SO much in such a short amount of time.

Lana now has 6 teeth and is handling this teething thing like a champ. She's started eating whole (non-mashed.. but still cooked) table foods: peas, carrots, potato, and chicken to name a few. She's also eating puffed wheat too, she's not sure about the texture of dry food but she still chews them like a champ and loves it even more when it's Robbie that's feeding them to her (see video below).

Babbling

She "talks" to Minnie Mouse, she "talks" to Mommy and Daddy... hell, she'll even "talk" to the dog.

Cucumber

She LOVES them! She can gnaw on the inside of it and does really well with chewing it.

She's not a fan of fruit. She'd much rather have some veggies and chicken/turkey (isn't a fan of beef... Sorry Uncle Paul)

ANOTHER ONE?

Lana now has 5 teeth!

Her upper right central incisor has started piercing through the gum line. She was very inconsolable yesterday morning. She also got an open sore rash in a crease where her thigh meets her groin but only on her right side.

This probably means that the left one is just days away. Hopefully it'll hold off until after we get home from Cold Lake!

Lana's 8 Months Old Today

Geez. I can't believe it... where did the time go?

My Little Girl

She's slowly starting to figure it out.

She can start in the sitting position and will crawl forward with her hands until she's lying on her belly, but as soon as she's on her belly I think she gets a little overwhelmed and then starts to cry. She's just about figured how to roll from back to belly, she'll do a half roll and then realize that she doesn't want to be on her belly so she'll roll herself back.

I've started sitting her in her stroller without the bucket and she loves it. She sits so upright, holds onto the tray in front of her and smiles - she loves to check everything out. I put in an order for her big girl car seat which should be here in a month or so.

She loves her big brother and thinks he's the funniest person around. Robbie just has to go over to her and gives her a "Hi my baby girl" or "Hi my baby sister" and she'll give him a grin from ear to ear. Usually Robbie comments about how silly or how funny she is, I can't wait to see what the future holds for these two.

Lana's a great eater, nursing is so passe. She's all into the veggies right now but strongly dislikes most fruit. Unfortunately I don't have the time to make all of her foods like I did with Robbie, it's just too easy to buy the jars. I think as of right now her favorite is either peas & brown rice or vegetable turkey casserole. I've tried to put a couple different fruit in her mesh feeder but her face goes completely sour and she won't have anything to do with it. I've also offered her a mum mum but from her reaction she's not quite ready for it just yet.

She now has 4 teeth and is unfortunately working on another (why doesn't her body give her a break?) She's got a little bit of a bum rash today so I know that somethings in the works. On the plus side, this teething thing is a cinch compared to Robbie. I was looking back at his poor blistered bum and I'm thanking the heavens that Lana doesn't have to go through that.

What did she give him as a gift? Her 4th tooth pierced through the skin today.

7 Month Appt

7 months

Happy 7 months to my sweet baby girl.

Sweet Potato

Hahaha... oh geez. It seems I get the same reaction with every new food I introduce. It's this sour/bitter face and you can just tell she's thinking "what in the world are you trying to do to me?" She kept eating it so it couldn't have been that bad! This morning she gobbled down the entire thing without making any funny faces.

Car Seat

We were on our way out the door to go visit some friends for a BBQ and as soon as I picked up the bucket with Lana in it I was shocked with how much weight she had put on (she was last in the bucket on Thursday) Even Colin noticed a drastic weight change. I'm going to go shopping for a convertable seat in the next week or two, this sucks... she's growing up way too fast.

Carrots and other updates

Not a big fan, but she'll eat them. She usually can gobble down 2 tbsp or more of green beans or banana, she seems to only want to have about 1 tbsp of carrot.

She's also teething again, it'll probably another week or two before we see anything.

I think she's afraid of men. She can give smiles and laughs from afar but if Colin, Grandpa or any other guy tries to hold her it doesn't take her long before she breaks out in tears... poor Colin :(

Bath Time

Oh my gosh. My little girl is SO adorable!

Tonight, after scrubbing her down, I sat her up for the first time in the tub. She was so excited! She kept splashing and squealing. She loves the plug - very fascinating.

Bath time is definitely the highlight of her day.

Food

This girl DESPERATELY wants to get her hands on whatever I'm eating. She fusses when I put her down to eat, so she usually sits on my lap while I tackle meals with one hand. The little monkey reaches out with both hands and pulls my plate to her in hopes that she can get her little hands on some of mommy's food (sometimes she's successful). I need Colin to watch my plate if I happen to focus my attention on Robbie because she's a sneaky and fast little one!

6 Month Stats

Weight: 17.13 lbs (90th percentile)
Height: 26.? in (90th percentile)... not really confident with this number, there was a volunteer that was doing her measurements.
Head: ? (50th percentile)

Everything went really well. One shot on each leg, the first one she didn't make a peep and the second one she let out a little yelp and a tear rolled down her cheek.

The nurse recommended we start something that I've never heard of before for an infant... Rub/brush her teeth with a tiny bit of fluoride once a day. She said this is a new thing that they're recommending to parents. I don't know how I feel about this so I'm going to wait until we see the pediatrician next month and I'll ask him what he thinks and why a damp cloth isn't sufficient.

All 'n all it was a great appointment.

Soilds

This girl loves food!

This week she's been having banana during the morning and mixed grain cereal at night. The mixed grain is by far her favorite cereal out of all the ones she's had! My babyf ood cookbook says to mash 1/4 banana but as of yesterday she's been eating 1/2! Tomorrow we go for her weigh-in and shots.

Lana's 6 months old!

Half a year..... HALF A YEAR! Can you believe it?! Geez time has gone by so fast. Lana has been a great baby she sleeps well, eats well and is genuinely happy. She's starting to eat solids and sits up on her own up to 15 minutes at a time. She has two teeth and is working on a couple more right now. I think she's going through a growth spurt, she's been sleeping a bunch along with eating a bunch. We go for her weigh in and shots on Friday.
