Bottles

Well, we're going to start introducing formula along with re-introducing the bottle. We picked up some different bottles with a faster flow so we hope that she'll take to it. Lana's Nan tried to feed her a bottle while we were moving and she refused it. Grrrrr. Yesterday I pumped 6oz of milk and gave it to her in the new bottle, she drank 5oz! She was chewing/playing with the nipple (fast flow) a lot so I pushed it into her mouth and she started guzzling it down. I found some "wide" nipples yesterday I plan on giving those a whirl today.

We've decided to try giving formula about twice a day. I have been the go-to-girl for the past 5 months... wherever I go, she goes. Colin feels so helpless when she's hungry and he can't give her what she's looking for right away (defrosting and heating takes time). I'm still not ready to give up nursing, we're both really attached to it.

She's teething

Hopefully this process won't be as severe as Robbie's was.

I had to give Tylenol twice yesterday. For the past 3-4 days she's been napping and yesterday she woke up screaming after only 30 minutes (and didn't really nap after that). Last night I was trying to nurse her to sleep (like I always do) and she was really hurting, she kept on pulling off the breast and screaming. I ended up giving her a dose at 10pm followed by a boob and she was out in record time. Ever since she's started napping again she's also been waking at night to nurse (she hasn't done this in 2-3 months!) but the Tylenol must have helped her because she didn't make a peep last night. Her bum has been effected thanks to these immanent teeth but I think it's slowly getting better, I've been putting Nelda's on her for the past week or two. Poor girl, I hope these teeth come sooner rather than later.

On another note, she's trying soooooo hard to roll. Last night I was trying to eat my dinner (at 9:15pm!!) so I put her on the floor for a sec and she was quite happy lying down there. She kept turning her head to the left and kept bringing her right arm across her body to her left side. She'll be mobile soon enough!

She also lets me know when she's done sitting/lying. She'll lift up her head and legs, almost like she's trying to sit up on her own.

We've Moved

... and I'm in love with this house! The kids have adjusted amazingly well to the new place. Robbie knew what the "new house" was and when he spotted something was missing from the old house we'd let him know that it was at the new house, so when we made the transition it seemed to go pretty smooth :)



Lana's trying to sort herself out right now, I think she's at the tail end of a growth spurt. For the past week or two she's been a high needs baby, I would nurse her to sleep but as soon as I put her down she'd wake up. I've tried to let her cry it out a couple of times but after 45 minutes of crying she'd calm down for about 5-10 minutes and then would start crying again, she obviously wasn't that tired. On moving day she had about an hour of napping time for the ENTIRE day... Robbie was getting more sleep than she was! I think she's finally past that phase, for the past two days she's been napping twice daily for a good 1-2 hours... I'll take it! She's been waking during the night to feed, but I don't mind. Now that she's napping I've actually been able to get some unpacking done.

I've altered the way we're nursing, I usually just give her one side to nurse on at a time but have started offering both sides in hopes to knock her out so that she won't wake up when I try to put her down for a nap - so far so good. The down side to this is that I'm not getting engorged any more, it's hard for me because I'm so use to feeling full so that I know I've got food for her but now that I don't have that sensation any more it's hard for me to come to terms that I'm feeding her enough (I obviously am, as she's pooping and peeing like a champ... it's just a mental thing)

After several blow outs and clothing stains we've moving little L to size 3 diapers. This growth spurt is getting so depressing, her 6 month sleepers are getting pretty tight and her 0-3 month pants are getting a little small.

My little girl loves sounds, she has a wooden rattle and Sophie that she adores. The great thing about these toys is that her grasp them and she can shove them into her mouth. Everything is going into her mouth these days; she's pretty much given herself hickeys on her thumb, index finger and a portion of the back of her hand from sucking so much. Her hands are always a little chilly because of all the saliva on them. With all these signs of teething she also has an increased amount of saliva, nothing too bad but she loves to blow bubbles with it. When we talk to her while she's blowing bubbles she'll pipe up with "bvvvvvv" and will spray us with it, it's really cute... and wet. lol

Robbie has always been really good with Lana. One time I was busy nursing Lana and wanted me to play with him and I had to decline so off he went to play by himself while the little one had a meal. Out of the blue he came running up to me and gave a me a big smooch right on the arm and then ran off to play again. You have no idea how teary eyed I got, I remembered driving home from the hospital with Lana and I felt like I was betraying Robbie by sharing my heart with another little one. I'm so proud of him, he's stepped up to the big brother plate without any issues or hiccups.

Growth Spurt

Here we go... er, I mean grow!

My little girl seems to constantly be attached to me and has been doing a good job a keeping me empty (nice to wake up and not have engorged boobs that prevent you from lying on your side) She woke up this morning an hour before schedule and as I type she is half asleep while nursing.

Don't grow up too fast little L.
