Sleeping

I'm starting to get a little worried with little L's sleeping habits, I just spent about 45 minutes getting her to sleep. She'd start to drift off on my chest and then all the sudden she'd spaz out of the blue! So I'd try cradling her and that wouldn't work. I nursed her twice hoping that would work... nope. I whipped out the GW and that didn't even work (usually that knocks her out)! I ended giving her the boob for the third time and I became a human pacifier until she FINALLY nodded off.

I have a feeling we're going to end up using the Ferber sleep training with Lana (the same thing we did with Robbie at 7 months) Lana will start the night off in her pink chair (actually cousin Kailey's chair on loan) until she wakes up for her first feeding and then comes into our bed for the rest of the night. I've tried putting her in the bassinet or back in the pink chair but she doesn't settle!

3 weeks old

My little girl is doing so well! She's eating like a champ, filling her diapers like a champ and loves to hold her head up. She's inherited the nickname "Spaz" she's so quick to throw a temper tantrum if the boob or a diaper change is taking a little bit too long, even if she's being held in a certain way that she doesn't approve of she'll let you know RIGHT away.







We are so much more relaxed with her. I remember driving with Robbie and every time he cried in the car I would tense up and try to rectify the situation ASAP, this time around I'm okay with letting her sort herself out. When she does cry in the car, it's only for a minute or two and then she's off to la-la land again... but for the most part she's a great passenger!

Colin's starting to notice that her cheeks are plumping up, seeing as though I'm with her 24/7 I'm not really noticing it. At 2 weeks she was 8lbs 7oz... I wonder how much she's gained this week.

Gripe Water aka GW

I forgot how much I love this stuff! All morning Lana had been really fussy and nothing seemed to be doing the trick so Colin suggested cracking open the GW and see what happens... within seconds she calmed down and then fell asleep! Woohoo! Thanks to the GW I was able to take Miss Lana shopping (her first time) for a couple of hours. You have no idea how much that helped my sanity and what's even better is all these fabulous sales going on right now!

Over Achiever

Our little Lana is amazing. I know every parent brags about how their baby is smart, a quick learner, etc but I honestly think Lana's ahead of the game... already. We went to Auntie Char's for Lana's newborn photo shoot and she was wide awake for the whole thing! When we wanted her to lie down she didn't want to so she started kicking her feet and she was actually pushing herself! And OH MY GOODNESS is she holding her head up, she doesn't have the newborn floppy head any more. She is so alert and usually prefers to look outward so that she can take everything in.
