Updates

1) I went for my "6 week" post-partum appointment on Thursday and it was pretty depressing and a little surreal. I laid there as he checked me while Lana was giving me smiles as she stood on my belly and I started thinking back... that was the exact same room and I was lying in that exact same position 14 weeks and 3 days ago when he did a stretch and sweep which (I believe) started my journey to meeting our little Lana. I kept on remembering how big the belly was and how hard it was for me to get myself up onto the table and then I would look up at Lana and she'd be giving me these ginormous smiles. It's amazing how the grow and develop so fast.

2) Our little Lana's got a sensitive tush. We were originally using Pampers but she just kept on getting bum rashes every couple of days, we tried a no name brand that had no dyes, scent, etc. but it wasn't doing a great job at keeping the "poonami's" in and they were really stiff. We're on our third day using Huggies and I think we have a winner!

3) Up until a couple days ago Lana was NOT a bath person, she would scream bloody murder! So I ended up jumping in the bath with her a couple weeks ago and she loves it! I forgot how much of a bonding experience it is, she gives me smiles and giggles and will let me wash all her without putting up a fuss.

4) She's a squirmer... big time. Last night she woke herself up twice because she squirmed her way up into the crib bars. I had taken the bumper pads off because they say it increases the risk of SIDS but I don't want my baby getting wedged in those bars, so we made the executive decision for the pads to go back on.

5) She's a HORRIBLE napper. If she's not nursing she'll wake up and start screaming bloody murder... but I've discovered a trick. I'll bring her to bed with me while nursing and I can usually get her to sleep an hour or two in our bed (sometimes I'll nap with her too)

6) She's slowly growing! I just went through her clothes and packed away her newborn and (some) 0-3 month clothes. She's going to be petite, she fitting into some 3-6 month tops but 0-3 pants are JUST starting to fit her.

Great Success!

She was quite fascinated by the orange kangaroo and she was quick to figure out that when she jumps/wiggles the music and lights would come on.

Growth Spurt?

Last night she was up twice for a feeding. She hasn't done that for a good month and a half! I'm just thankful that we decided to go to bed at a decent hour last night :)

We're also trying out a different set of diapers, I find she gets a little bum rush several times a week (nothing that the Nelda's paste doesn't take care of) and she's have a lot of blow outs. This new brand that Colin got didn't really work in the blow out department, she woke up with a poop stain on her sleeper :( but her bum seems to be good thus far!

3 Months Old!

*sigh*... Another milestone is here.


It is very different this time around, with Robbie I was always looking ahead to his next first but with Lana I'm soaking in every little bit of her because I know it won't last long.

I'm not sure how much she weighs right now, we go for another set of shots as well as a doctor's appointment next month, so we'll find out them. I'm guessing she's at least 14 lbs right now.
She is sleeping like a champ. Usually goes down between 8 and 9 pm and doesn't wake until 8 am! The reason for Robbie switching over to formula was because he was still waking 2-3 times a night at 7 months but seeing as though Lana's sleeping through the night I'm not sure how long I'll nurse until... I guess we'll play it by ear.


She is quite the little flirt and her smiles are so contagious. She loves to be talked to and the goofier the smile you give her the bigger the smile you'll get in return.

She doesn't really like to be treated like a baby. Her head isn't floppy at all anymore so she prefers to be bouncing on the knee or standing up (assisted, of course). She is still in awe over the painting that we have in our living room, it's made up of bright primary colors so every time she stands on my lap she looks up and smiles with approval while she looks at the picture.


The only bad thing is that she has become a boob addict like her brother once was. It's mostly my fault, I hate hearing her cry so I pop her a boob (she will only take her soother if it's in the car and she's screaming bloody murder) She has started doing what Robbie did, after I put her down she wakes herself up and then gets mad that she's not in my arms. I've tried putting her down while she's dozy but she just wakes right up and flips out. Unfortunately we're going to have to do the sleep training to her like we did to Robbie. I don't see us doing it for another month or two, until she's moved into her own room and has settled in.

She's such a joy to be around and her little brother has welcomed her with open arms. He just recently got some Mickey Mouse figurines from the Disney store and he always wants to share them with her. Her hands are still in a fist but if you open them for her to grasp the toy she'll hold onto it for a little while before letting it go.

I am still pumping, I still get engorged in the mornings so I pump about 5oz before the monkeys get up. Colin got a big kick out of feeding Lana that one time so hopefully he can do more and maybe sometime down the road we can go on another date :)
